Quarantined Life: What’s your goal?

Life amidst the Coronavirus outbreak has come to a complete halt in many places. Being locked down inside the government-ordered quarantine already feels like being suspended between the Dark Ages and some fictional future.

Now, try adding media and politicians to it. They have been feeding way too much depressing content about the outbreak and the potential economic slowdown. Some of the news is true but many are just to add more to the panic.

Things are turning critical with the growing number of cases, death, and the increasing number of lockdowns each day. There is not a lot we can do except social distancing to overcome the pandemic.

So, like most of you, I have isolated myself too, with the hope that the lively city life will be restored soon.

In the meantime, it got me thinking — how about making the quarantined life a fun experience?.

What does a CEO get out of the Quarantined Life?

Time — yes, the most precious thing in our lives. No more commute to the office. No more flying. No more attending events. No more in-people meetings. No more going out.

I said to myself, ‘This is amazing!’

That’s when I decided to turn this unsettling locked-down-in-the-house situation to something innovative and fun. Other than running LoginRadius and serving a billion users, this is the perfect time to learn, explore, and connect in life.

My Goals of the Quarantined Life

1) Don’t Create Panic

I am going to start by getting the basics right. I will not post any panic message on Twitter, WhatsApp or any other medium. Let’s take care of each other in this hour of need. There’s no need to panic. I am sure the world’s smartest brains are working on it. So let’s do our part and hope for the best.

2) Read More Books

I love reading. I have set a rule to read 20 pages every day. But now, I am seeing the lockdown as an opportunity to upgrade my target to 50 pages a day. This way, I will be reading a new book every five days. Yay!

3) Be a Better Cook

It sucks that there is no more food delivery or scope for dining out. So, why not turn the tables? It is a perfect opportunity to trigger the Master Chef in me. I have decided to experiment and learn. In fact, the other day, I called my mom over video and learned how to cook Aloo Gobhi, an Indian delicacy. Man, O’ man… it was delicious! Next, I am gonna call my sisters and friends and learn to cook one dish from each of them.

4) Be Healthier

Not eating out and not attending events is already making me healthier :). On top of that, I decided to devote 30 minutes every day to exercising at home and fixing my eating habits, i.e., eating the right food at the right time. Moreover, I have also added 30 minutes to my sleep time. I am already feeling so much better.

5) Connect more with friends and family

Our loved ones bring more happiness into our lives than anything else. In this stressful and concerned time, let’s make amends, build broken bridges, and show some care. I am reconnecting with many every week.

6) Finish Writing My First Book:

Lastly, I am writing a book (more on that some other time). It has been fun but it always goes on low priority. Written 70% of it, though! Isolation helps me to concentrate. I am trying to dedicate a good amount of time to get this project done.

I am hoping to develop #3, #4 and #5 as habits. And if I can retain them in my life beyond the quarantine period, that’d be a huge win!

This is how I am keeping my life fun. What about you?
